The wellness community has long recognized the restorative benefits of Massage therapy, including easing physical tension, improving circulation, calming the nervous system, and enhancing emotional well-being. But while any massage can help you feel better temporarily, not all are created equally.
At L’Absolu Spa, a massage is more than just a service. It’s a thoughtfully guided experience built around the client’s needs. Not only physically, but also emotionally and energetically. With a team of highly trained, intuitive massage therapists, L’Absolu Spa has become one of Montreal’s most trusted destinations for personalized bodywork that truly heals.
This month, we spoke with four of L’Absolu’s massage therapists to understand what makes their approach so different, and why guests return time and again for care that goes far beyond technique.
Therapists Who Massage with Intention, Not Routine
There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment at L’Absolu. Each massage therapist brings their own style, intuition, and healing philosophy. It ensures that no two sessions are ever the same.
“I would describe it as a holistic, unique, and professional approach offering a complete flow of the body,” says Alyssia. “I have a background in Kung Fu. I know body mechanics and how people feel after their workout – emotional release, sense that doing something productive, tired, and, of course, you’ll have some tension/knots that you want to rid of to open up your body.”
Daiana describes her approach as “client-centered, combining technique and sensitivity. I aim to create a personalized experience that goes beyond physical relaxation, activating all five senses and promoting overall well-being.”
For Jessel, it’s a balance of instinct and science: “My approach is intuitive and scientific. I use my knowledge in anatomy to help me relieve tension in clients, in a way that shapes the massage to their comfort.”
And Michela sees massage as a deeply energetic practice: “Massage is not just a passion – it’s my life. I’m also a Reiki Master…I feel like I’m entering another dimension with my clients. The most important thing for me is to create a safe space where clients can open up and be themselves.”
Every Detail Designed to Support You
What distinguishes the experience at L’Absolu is the care and intentionality found in every step, from setting the environment to listening deeply and adjusting in real-time.
“Before a massage, I like to look at their health questionnaire and converse with them before I start the session,” says Alyssia. “I ask my usual questions: how are you doing today? What are the areas we’re focusing on? Are there any areas you don’t want massaged?”
Daiana prepares long before the client arrives: “Even before meeting my clients, I prepare myself daily through yoga, meditation, and strength training, and I use incense to energetically cleanse the space. I usually arrive an hour early to ensure everything is harmonized.”
Michela also begins with observation: “Often, where clients feel pain is just the tip of the iceberg. The real issue can be elsewhere in the body… I work holistically to address the root cause.”
And for Jessel, it’s about tuning into more than just words: “I’m attentive to direct communication as well as indirect communication like body language. I ask them about their lifestyle. How can I help them feel better long-term with this massage session?”
Emotional Healing Happens Here, Too
Massages can offer more than relaxation. They can be truly transformative. L’Absolu’s massages often become a source of emotional healing, especially for clients experiencing stress, trauma, or grief.
“Sometimes clients feel safe to tell me personal things,” says Jessel. “I’m happy when I know they feel safe in this quiet space. When clients tell me it’s like the weight has lifted from their shoulders, I know the massage session was a success.”
Michela recalls a specific moment: “I remember one client who started crying during a massage because she had recently lost her son. I didn’t ask her to share. She opened up naturally because she felt safe. My job in those moments is simply to hold space, to let her know she’s cared for.”
Our therapists design every aspect of the massage environment to achieve emotional comfort for our clients. “My thought process is making sure certain details are just right,” explains Alyssia. “Just the right level of music played, just the right level of heat in the room, just the right amount of essential oil… I would describe it almost like entering a sacred space.”
Techniques You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
Each massage therapist brings a unique set of tools and often uses advanced techniques from around the world.
“I use Lomi Lomi,” says Alyssia. “It’s a modality that came from Hawaii using the forearms to mimic the flow of waves… I also massage the stomach because it often gets neglected.”
Daiana incorporates both physical and energetic elements: “I work with three oils representing the balance of mind, body, and soul. The client chooses the scent that resonates most with them. If they select an oil for the soul, I apply Lomi Lomi techniques and movements on the diaphragm to address emotional aspects.”
Michela tailors each session using a wide range of tools: “I combine lymphatic drainage, Gua Sha, cupping, fascia release, Japanese techniques… But above all, I always lead with love and care. I’ve even created some of my own movements, like my ‘heart technique,’ to make clients feel held throughout the session.”
The Energy You Feel When You Walk In
At L’Absolu, we want to give our therapists the space to be themselves, and that shows in every session.
“In the past, I worked in spas with standardized protocols,” says Daiana. “At L’Absolu Spa, I discovered my authenticity and freedom to express my style. The owners’ openness to dialogue makes therapists feel valued…The unity of the team and the elevated energy of the space make every session truly special.”
Jessel agrees: “This space is more like a home away from home, a space away from the noise of the world… Everyone here knows each other. Some spas have massage therapists who have never met.”
Michela adds, “Clients often say it feels like they’re stepping into another world here. Even though we’re in the city, they feel transported.”
Clients Can Feel the Difference
L’Absolu’s 670+ Google Reviews reflect the feeling where clients consistently describe their sessions as exceptional, restorative, and unlike anything else.

Emily D’Errico shares, “I pulled a back muscle at the gym… After Daiana’s massage, I barely had any pain left. The difference was incredible; my whole body felt relaxed and light.”
